Meet Leigh
My name is Leigh Britt and I appreciate the opportunity to introduce myself. I have lived in Columbus, Indiana since 1992 after I married my husband, Tim Britt. Cummins Inc. took us to Bartholomew County where we chose to stay and raise our family. We will celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary in June. Our children attended and graduated Kindergarten - 12th grade in Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC). Before my children were born, I taught mathematics at Columbus North High School (CNHS). I am currently a Lecturer at Indiana University Columbus (IUC, formerly IUPUC) teaching developmental Algebra, Finite and Mathematics for Elementary Teachers courses.

2020 BCSC Referendum 2030 Envision Support
BCSC was supported by more than 60% of the 2020 voting public to increase the compensation of teachers and staff and to maintain student safety.
Envision 2030 allows for continued renovation of our facilities while keeping the tax rate flat.
New GPS Diplomas
The 2029 graduating class will be the first to earn the new (and currently unnamed) Indiana high school diploma. I have a keen understanding of the academic expectations and preparation required of students pursuing their next academic steps due to grant participation focusing on college readiness.
Multiple pathways to success
BCSC excels in opportunities offered to students in the form of Career and Technical Eduction (C4) and College Readiness.
Trusting the Professionals
Principals and teachers need to be empowered to care for students when care is needed and to discipline students when discipline is needed.
As a school board member my goal will be to empower and support teachers and administrators to do both. I trust the professionals!
